Theme: Surrender Before Sacrifice

DAY 37 – THE WAY OF THE CROSS 3/30/26

Scripture: Luke 9:23

Reflection:
Jesus makes it clear that following Him requires daily surrender. The cross represents death to self and life in Christ. Thriving faith embraces sacrifice as part of discipleship.

What does taking up my cross look like today?

Application:
Deny yourself in one practical way today for Christ’s sake.

DAY 38 – LOVE DISPLAYED

Scripture: John 19:16–18, 30

Reflection:
At the cross, Jesus demonstrated the depth of God’s love. His sacrifice was complete and sufficient. Thriving begins when we live from the finished work of Christ.

How does the cross shape how I view my life and my future?

Application:
Spend time reflecting on the cross and respond with gratitude

DAY 39 – WAITING WITH HOPE

Scripture: Isaiah 53:4–6

Reflection:
Between the cross and the resurrection was a moment of silence and waiting. God was still at work, even when it seemed finished. Thriving faith trusts God in the waiting.

Where do I need to trust God even when I cannot see the outcome?

Application:
Resist discouragement today by anchoring yourself in God’s promises.

Day 40 – Surrender

Scripture: Luke 22:41–42

Reflection:

The day before the cross was not marked by nails. It was marked by surrender. Before Jesus was crucified publicly, He surrendered privately. In the garden, we see the humanity of Jesus. He felt the weight. He understood the suffering. He knew what was coming. And yet, in that moment, He did not run. He prayed. “Not my will… but Yours be done.” This is where true obedience is revealed. Not when it’s easy. Not when it’s comfortable. But when God’s will conflicts with our desire. Jesus shows us that surrender is not weakness; it is alignment. Before there is victory, there must be submission. Before there is resurrection, there must be surrender. Where in my life am I struggling to say, “Not my will, but Yours be done”?

Application:

Today, identify one area where your will and God’s will are in tension.

  • a decision you’re avoiding

  • a habit you need to surrender

  • a relationship you need to handle God’s way

  • an area where obedience feels uncomfortable

Then do this:

  1. Pray honestly—just like Jesus did

  2. Surrender that area to God

  3. Take one action that aligns with His will, not yours

The cross was not the beginning of obedience; it was the continuation of a surrendered life.
